# Ever Want A Simple Text Editor?

### Introduction

How many times have you gone out searching the web to find a JavaScript plugin or script that turns a textarea into a fully blown HTML editor? I know I have. Everytime I do I end up having to spend the next hour configuring it and then realizing that it has to much bloat in it that I end up removing half the stuff.

It sucks, I hate it. So I wanted to change that. I didn’t want to have to dick around with a bunch of configurations or scripts. Making sure paths were setup right or what my users might do if I left this feature on.

### Simply-Edit.js

Welcome to the new best simple editor in the entire world! Here are all the options.

1. Height
2. Width
3. Buttons

Height and Width are explanatory but what goes into buttons you ask? Well let me tell you. It’s an array of strings which contain the names for the buttons OMG.

Here is what you put into buttons.

buttons:[
"font-size",
"bold",
"italic",
"underline",
"strikethrough",
"seperator",
"subscript",
"superscript",
"list-ol",
"list-ul",
"seperator",
"align-left",
"align-center",
"align-right",
"seperator",
"undo"
];

I think a baby elephant just got it’s wings everyone! Not only can you change which buttons you want but you can specify the order of which buttons show up. Well except for font-size but that’s a drop down and not a button.

### Conclusion

I hope you all enjoy it. In reality no one will probably ever use it let alone find it. Aww so I built another useless piece of crap software you might think. The reality is I built it for myself! yep that’s right. For two reasons though. It filled one of my needs and I also learned how to build one. So there, how many have you ever built?
